The Girl's Roadtrip
Wow! What a day!
Greta and I left Karlsruhe at 10ish yesterday morning, heading first to pick up Susan in Weinsberg, load up the car with a ton--literally a TON!--of clothes and tie a lounger up to the roof of the car. As soon as that was done, we were on the road again to Frankfurt (Offenbach) to see Tracie in her new digs.
What a sight we must have been driving on the A6 and A5 to Tracie's! I wish I had pictures. Here we are, 3 American girls (of course, you couldn't tell that from the car) driving along with the lounger on top and a bunch of boxes.
So, we finally got up to Tracie's new place--really nice! She made us fantastic flammkuchen, a speciality from the Alsace--the region of France on the German border near Karlsruhe. It's basically a pizza, but made with crème fraîche or sour cream instead of tomato sauce. Mmmm, yummy! I'll need to find a good recipe for when we move to Australia! Thanks for the wonderful meal Tracie!
Anyway, after we filled our tummies with the delish flammkuchen, we had a fashion show with all the clothes that Susan was giving away. We had so much fun doing this! And found a few really great new outfits. Thanks SO MUCH Susan!
Then it was 7pm and we had to get back on the road again. This time we made a big "S" from Frankfurt down and over to Weinsberg to drop off Susan, and then finally drop Tracie off in Pforzheim and have dinner. By this time it was past 10pm! Amazing how the time flew. And poor Greta--all that driving!
Thanks girls for all the fun!
